William Morris

Chief Counsel – Civil Aerospace

I’ve been with Rolls-Royce since 2006. I originally joined the legal team in the Defence business, leading the team for two years before moving to Civil Aerospace. In Civil, I’ve led the legal team since 2013.

Before joining Rolls-Royce, I was an M&A lawyer in an international law firm for 5 years. I worked on a variety of deals (from flotations, joint ventures to management buy-outs), with small and medium sized businesses primarily in the engineering and IT sectors. Whilst I enjoyed the fast paced transactional environment, I really wanted to work as a lawyer as part of a business team. After a period of secondment with an IT business, I joined Mueller Group a large European food manufacturer and worked as their UK lawyer before moving to Rolls-Royce.

In 2017, I was appointed to the Civil Aerospace Leadership Team as Chief Counsel. In this role, my priorities are to help drive simplicity and pace into our business, integrate my team’s knowledge and legal and commercial expertise into the business and our decision-making, and help our business win and win right.

I’m married to Nicole, we have two children, Martha and George. We live in Leicestershire. When I’m not taking my kids to play sport, I enjoy walking our dog Woody, reading, cycling and watching Birmingham City FC and Leicester Tigers.
