Joanne is the Head of Data Services, Triage and Matter Management at SYKE Legal Engineering. Her role aims to set and deliver the strategy for SYKE’s Data Services and AI technology workstream in the APAC region. Joanne manages a team of legal engineers based in Australia, Malaysia, Singapore and India. Her experience in legal technology is extensive which has enabled her to lead and manage large scale global legal transformation projects, end-to-end implementation of contract lifecycle and automation tools, develop bespoke workflows and train artificial intelligent contract abstraction tools for local and global clients.

Joanne read Law at the University of Durham, UK and is a dual qualified lawyer with more than 15 years of private practice experience in the UK and Malaysia specializing in technology and intellectual property. Joanne was previously a lawyer at Field Fisher Waterhouse and Baker & McKenzie.

Joanne was also the Head of Legal and Global Project Manager at Unilever where she successfully led Unilever’s global legal transformation project and implemented and managed the end-to-end roll out of its legal transformation journey across 33 countries.

Joanne was nominated in the Asian Legal Business top 3 In-House Lawyer of the Year Award in 2017 and recipient of Unilever’s World Class Legal Winner in 2015, 2016 and 2018.

Joanne is proud of being at the cutting edge of data driven legal innovation and has a keen interest in the interaction between human and technology through the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning.
